3.4.2 Social Responsibility Environmental Management
ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT
Environmental Responsibility and Innovation Report.
Constant concern about minimising the environmental impact of the activities of the VIAS Group drives our efforts to analyse the sources of any pollution caused by what we do and devise corrective measures to reduce any negative effects on the natural environment.
Because of our dual commitment to society and towards sustainable development, we have taken specific stops o improve results, reduce risks and lower the amount of resources consumed by optimising and reusing them.
These measures are driven by management, who fix the organisation's environmental policy and targets via the Environment Committee, monitored and controlled by the Environmental Department through the application of our management system certified under the standard UNE EN ISO 14001.
The VIAS Group's environmental goals are as follows:
- The greatest impact of construction work on the environment is the generation of inert waste. Being fully aware of the need to reuse and recycle such waste, the VIAS Group has fixed its management as one of its primary environmental- management goals.
- As the special features and heterogeneity of the sector affect and hinder the task of obtaining relevant environmental indicators, we have implemented tools to control and monitor the waste generated in the years to come.
- These tools enable us to determine the evolution over time of how our waste is managed, and over the last two years the volume of earth waste that is reused has increased considerably, as has the amount of rubble recycled rather than being taken to a landfill.
- In addition, environmental management at the VIAS Group includes preventive practices to eliminate or minimise other environmental impact derived from building works, covering such issues as the prevention of atmospheric, water and soil pollution, and protecting wildlife.
